This season we have added a new item…the Market Potato.  At the beginning of each market, we will walk the market and gather ingredients from other vendors and create a topping for a baked spud or wedges.  It could get interesting and the flavours might surprise you.

Fresh healthy goodness!

The market menu will be baked potatoes and wonderful wedges (sweet potato also available) loaded with cheese, sour cream, garlic butter, house made fresh salsa, garlic and curry dips, the Market Potato or our very own Market JunkFood, the HPC POUTINE!

Market Breakfast, 2 egg omelet with fresh veggies, plated with wedges or in a wrap, fresh fairly traded locally roasted coffee (Happy Goat Coffee), fresh squeezed lemonade and herbal teas, round out the selection.

Our last outing, Winterlude, didn’t turn out the best, but we had 1.5 good weekends out of 3.  Thanks to everybody who dropped by the truck on the ice.  It’s funny because when we pulled out, we decided to use the ramp at Fifth Avenue because it is flatter.  So here we were driving down the canal from Concorde to Fifth Ave. (about 3-5 km), a food truck and a van (towing the potato oven), just like the Ice Road Truckers on tv, or at least it felt like that!

It’s Easter weekend coming up and that means we will be at Canada Agriculture Museum, situated at the Experimental Farm in Canada’s Capital City, Ottawa.  So, grab the family and friends, and drop by the farm in the city.  The weather’s going to be excellent!

If you have been following the news re: the redevelopment of Lansdowne Park, then you know the Ottawa Farmers’ Market  (our semi-regular gig, every Sunday, during the summer) will be moving to Brewer Park while the construction takes place.  The market opens at Brewer Park, on Bronson Ave. May 6th.  BUT, to say goodbye to the Aberdeen Pavilion and Lansdowne Park, there will be a Spring Market on Sunday, April 15th from 9 til 3pm.  It will be much like the Christmas market that was a huge success.  Hope to see you there!

The weather has turned mild and rainy, so the canal maybe closed Thursday and Friday, which will enable the ice to recuperate for the weekend.  The nights are looking great for ice making.   Check out the NCC website for conditions.

It looks like we will be closed on Friday, however fear not, we should be open Saturday 10-10pm and Sunday 10-6pm AND a bonus day….Monday (Family Day in Ontario) 10-6pm.

It was a great weekend with perfect weather and lots of happy Spud’eads skating and munching.

We will be open this weekend Friday 5-10pm, Saturday 10-10pm, and Sunday 10-6pm.  The weather looks great for skating, walking and people watching on the ice….the worlds largest skating rink.

Grab a spud or wedges, a hot chocolate with marshmallows, hot apple cider (real cider, not powder!) from our friends at  Hall’s Apple Market  or fresh fair trade coffee and enjoy the fresh air!

Not sure timing yet…it’s all been a rush to get organized.

The truck and baking oven will be there, baking and wedging, plus hot/cold drinks…hot chocolate, coffee, tea, hot apple cider, etc.

Next year is already shaping up to be as busy, with invitations to participate in events arriving regulary in our inbox. 

Our regular season has come to end apart for the 4 Christmas Markets.   Excited!

 The school hot lunch program is well underway, supplying spuds and salads to schools in and around Ottawa. 

Spudding moves inside…

This will be interesting and a challenge moving inside for the first time.  We will be at the Ottawa Farmers’ Market Christmas Market 4 Sundays inside the Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park. 

Not able to cook inside the building, we will have our truck at Lansdowne Park, cooking and preparing the spuds and wedges.

Expect between 83 and 100 vendors from the OFM and invited vendors from other farmers’ markets from around the region.

Music, carollers, cooking demos, gift wrappers, and Christmas spirit inside the Aberdeen Pavilion.  A natural home for the Ottawa Farmers’ Market!

We are pumped and primed and excited to be at this (these) markets and hope to see you there.  If you go, drop by and say hello!

It’s a smallish country fair, in it’s 155th year.   We like this particular fair because it’s our “local fair”, just 10 minutes away.  So, we see alot of people we know and catch up on gossip and local news.

We will also be at the Ottawa Farmers’ Market on Sunday from 8am to 3pm….double spudding weekend!

With the weather cooling down, our menu changes to warm toppings on the spuds like our world famous veggie chili and hot apple cider from Hall’s Apple Market.

Even though the summer is winding down, we aren’t….there’s still plenty of events and locations to keep us busy until Christmas…stay tuned.

We open tomorrow, Thursday, at 5.00pm at the all new and improved Ottawa Folk Festival.   Friday 5pm til 11pm, Saturday and Sunday 12noon til 11pm.

We’ll miss the location (Britannia Park), quirkiness and atmosphere of past folk festivals, but after walking around the grounds at Hogs Back Park, feel this new management knows their business…Bluesfest Lite!

The food vendor lineup is varied and interesting this year.  You won’t be disappointed.

We will be serving baked potatoes and wedges with anything you want on them along with organic salads, fresh squeezed lemonade and ice cold fresh apple cider from Hall’s Apple Market from the Ottawa Farmers’ Market. 

Speaking of which, we will be open at the farmers’ market at Lansdowne Park this Sunday as well (double spudding Sunday).
